About J.D. Hanning

J.D. Hanning has called the Puget Sound area her home since 1996, with the exception of a few years spent in Colorado. While in the Centennial State, she had the opportunity to work with some local authors, which inspired some fresh ideas for her books.

As an artist, J.D. designed her signature strands of open-ended meditation beads, called Celtic Journey Stones (TM), by drawing on Celtic mythology as she did for her books and on her knowledge of the healing properties of crystals. These customized tools are held to provide focus during meditation or while reciting mantras or prayers. Characters in The Traveler's Saga utilize what they call Journey Stones that are similar in nature.

J.D.'s mission is to inspire people, specifically women, to believe in themselves and to believe that everyone is empowered to live a fulfilling life. She hopes to inspire others to improve a small piece of this big world for themselves as well as for others and future generations. As a result, her stories depict strong female characters who can serve as positive role models, characters with whom young women can relate and respectfully emulate.

Having a great respect for nature, J.D. is profoundly concerned about the conservation of our planet, specifically the depletion of forested land, global warming, and the effects that hydraulic fracturing and excessive disposal of non-biodegradable material have on the environment. She urges everyone to reduce their own carbon footprints and to help spread awareness about things we all can do to live more sustainable lives.
